According to Psychology Today (2004), the amount of all active smokers making a serious attempt to stop smoking each year is about 50% (between 33% to 66%).
Studies show that the success rate of those who try to quit smoking alone (without any additional help or support) is only between 2 to 5%, with most failing in the first 2 to 3 weeks.
Those engaging in a behavior modification program, nicotine replacement, or a Zyban medication approach alone to quit smoking have a success rate of about 13%.
An examination of multiple research studies shows that a single session treatment to stop smoking with hypnosis produced about a 25% success rate, whereas the success rate is about 66% for those engaging in at least 4 to 5 sessions to quit smoking with hypnosis.
According to the Journal of Applied Psychology, after having analyzed over 600 studies involving more than 72,000 people (including 48 studies to stop smoking with hypnosis), the results clearly showed individual sessions to quit smoking with hypnosis were three times more effective than traditional nicotine replacement therapy (the patch or gum).
Success rates of those using multiple-session hypnosis to stop smoking (or stop smoking with hypnotherapy) are as much as ten times the success rates of those who try to quit smoking without any tools or resources.
The data is clear, smoke free hypnosis is the most effective way to quit.

According to the American College of Chest Physicians (2007), hypnosis was more than twice as effective as quitting "cold turkey," and over three times as effective as nicotine replacement therapy.
Also according to the American College of Chest Physicians (2007), former hospital patients who were motivated to quit had a 50% success rate using hypnosis to quit smoking after only one hypnosis session with recorded sessions for follow-up, while only 15.78% of those using nicotine replacement quit successfully.
NOTE: Beware of stop smoking programs that claim success rates between 85 to 95% – whether or not they include hypnosis. Check to make sure that these success rates are based on legitimate research. Trustworthy research is objective, statistical, and results are required to be over a period of time. Also, reliable research studies are typically published through a major university, or appear in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
The technique used in the individual smoking study #6, is based on reliable research studies and the success rate is documented to be > 90%!
